Walking Z1 (Warmup)

A 10–20-minute easy walk used only to warm up before training. It prepares the feet, ankles, knees, hips, breathing, and attention without turning the warm-up into a workout of its own.

Why this exercise matters

Walking Z1 is a low-impact bridge from rest into training and a useful moment to organize attention.
  • Joint preparation — Gradually exposes the feet, ankles, knees, and hips to load before faster movement.
  • Body awareness — Makes pain, stiffness, and readiness easier to notice before choosing training loads.
  • Mental focus — Provides a calm window to plan the session and reconnect with personal goals.
  • Accessible warm-up — Requires no machine and creates little fatigue when kept genuinely easy.

How to perform

Walk for 10–20 minutes at roughly 50–60% HRmax before the main session.
  1. Settle in — Start slowly and let the stride lengthen naturally as the body warms.
  2. Stay effortless — Keep full conversation and choose flat ground or a very gentle incline.
  3. Scan the body — Notice foot contact, joint comfort, breathing, stiffness, and overall readiness.
  4. Plan ahead — Review the workout, visualize the first exercises, and focus on one personal goal.
  5. Finish fresh — End the walk warmer and mentally prepared, with no leg heaviness or breathlessness.

What to avoid

This is a warm-up, not a jog or a hidden conditioning session.
  • Pace creep — Slow down if breathing becomes noticeable or conversation is interrupted.
  • Pain signals — Do not walk through new sharp foot, knee, hip, chest, or balance symptoms.
